Supporting the James L. Goodwin Forest and Conservation Education Center, the Friends of Goodwin Forest maintains the facilities trails and gardens. This includes over 14 miles of trails, including the Blue-Blazed Natchaug Trail and Pine Acres Pond. Popular activities around the conservation center include fishing, canoeing, birdwatching, trail running, and hiking. In the winter, this list includes cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The conservation center runs events for children and adults throughout the year. The Friends of Goodwin Forest have a stated mission “to advocate, enhance, and support education, recreation, and conservation activities of the historic James L. Goodwin Forest and Conservation Education Center,” and they raise funds and support events in the spirit of that mission.
