Friends of Sunrise-Machimoodus State Parks
- @FriendsofMachimoodusSunrise
The Friends of Sunrise-Machimoodus State Park serve as “a group of volunteers dedicated to the preservation, protection, and perpetuation” of Machimoodus and Sunrise State Parks’ “ecologically and recreationally important open spaces.” The Machimoodus and Sunrise State Parks are located in East Haddam, Connecticut, on the banks of the Salmon River, a tributary of the Connecticut River. The facilities contain picnicking areas, and the parks are popular destinations for birding, fishing, hiking, and horseback riding. The Friends host a series of events throughout the year in support of their goals, and they advocate tirelessly for pro-parks legislation at the local and state levels. More information about their efforts may be found on their Facebook page.
